Sisters, Marie and Lexi
Lexi and I clicked from the very first day we met each other and we both truly feel like we are a sister to the other one. Since I have moved back to PA, Lexi and I talk on a daily basis either through texting or phone calls. She is turning into such a beautiful young woman and feels free to discuss with me the struggles that come up in her life. Lexi and her mom have a very close relationship but there are a few times that she wants to talk about stuff without her mom knowing and she right away texts me or calls me to talk. It is really great to know that she knows she can call me for anything. And I am sure her mom would be happy too because of course I am guiding her down the right path and telling her the same thing her mama is saying but hearing it from someone else always helps.
Anyways, I wanted to share a few pictures with you. Michael and I got married this past September and we knew right away that we wanted Lexi to be a part of our special day. So we flew her and her mom out to stay with us for a few days before the wedding and Lexi was one of my bridesmaids. We actually called her the "Groom's special escort" on the programs because Michael and Lexi escorted each other down the aisle. The day was such a precious time for us to share with her and her mom.
When Lexi and I use to get together every week, we did many different activities but the one we loved to do was to sing. We would pull all sorts of songs up on the computer and just sit there and sing our hearts out. There was a very special song that became "our song". It is "Never Alone" by Lady Antebellum. Well Lexi told us that she would love to be able to sing that song at our wedding. So toward the beginning of the reception, she was called up to sing the song. She didn't get too far into it before her emotions overcame her and she wasn't able to sing it anymore. I quickly saw she wasn't going to be able to sing so I went up to her, hugged her and then set the microphone down and she and I had a very special time of dancing to our song. It was one of the best memories I have from the whole day. I still get choked up when I think of how it all unfolded.
Thank you so very much for matching me up with such a precious little sister. I have had a little sister before Lexi when I lived in PA and when we moved back to PA two years ago I was match up with another little sister. But I know there is something special about Lexi and I that I haven't felt with either of the other sisters. She truly is my sis and we will remain this way for the rest of our lives. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to have such a person enter my life. And not only have I gained a little sister but her mother (who is right around my age) has become a dear friend to me as well. We are planning for them to come back this summer and spend a week with us as a summer vacation if everyone can pull it off. I can't wait.
Have a great day Miles and thanks again for everything!!!
